I was testing some Battlefield 1 with my 9900k CPU cooled by a Noctua d15s at normal speeds. Overall, my temperatures have stayed stable, hovering between 28-32°C. When I ran Cinebench r20 and Timespy, the peak temps reached around the mid-60s. In Battlefield, I checked HWmonitor and found a high of 79°C. On a 4790k with a Corsair H60, I managed to keep it under 71°C for a couple of hours. Even though I haven’t changed the thermal paste in over five years, this 9900k/d15s seems to rapidly swing from comfortable temps to dangerously hot and back again. It might be related to the air cooler, as my H60 stayed fairly consistent. I’m curious how well I mounted the CPU cooler and applied the paste. It’s unusual to see such quick temperature shifts. If you have a 9900k, what’s a typical gaming temperature for you, especially in Battlefield 1? It’s a CPU-heavy game I play often.

Don't stress, the 9900k is a powerful CPU. 79c is a bit warm but within typical limits for this model.
