You're looking for a more reliable way to find devices on the network, so I'll opt for a direct drive mapping approach instead.

I have around ten computers in various types that need to function together, and the only method that consistently works is using their IP addresses.

I've experienced this problem before. As the wizard mentioned, network discovery appears to fail when switching between wired and wireless connections, or vice versa. But mapping specific devices like a drive usually resolves the issue.

Not what I expected. People mentioned inconsistencies, especially with SAMBA. My laptop can recognize other Windows 10 machines but not my SAMBA server—though typing the path works manually. I use the map service via IP address, which keeps functioning even when I’m away from home and connect back using a VPN.

The only solution I discovered to boost reliability was enabling WINS on all desired devices during network setup.
