I chose the model with the metal enclosure mainly because it includes a power jack on the rear rather than the side. The switches produce minimal heat, so the metal casing isn’t essential for additional cooling. Inside, they’re essentially single-chip units with some memory and a voltage regulator. Their performance differences are negligible.
Don't buy a plastic case. Plastic is bad for the environment and metal cases are much more robust. They are also much nicer. Better get 8 ports instead of only 5. Don't buy a 100Mbit switch unless you have special reason to. Never buy a managed switch from tplink; they suck and their support isn't any better. The unmanaged ones are a very good deal for the money.
