The motherboard has four slots but supports dual channels. For 16 GB of RAM, which configuration is preferable—two 8 GB sticks or four 4 GB sticks? (DDR4)

Dual channel expands the bus width by connecting two modules at once, allowing it to read or write 128 bits simultaneously. This setup creates the illusion of a 128-bit wide path, even with four modules. A quad channel system with four modules looks like it connects through a single 256-bit path to the memory controller. Dual channel with four sticks remains dual channel. For flexibility, purchase 2x8 GB and expand later if needed.

They only send two signals at once, which doesn't improve performance beyond what's already possible.
