Hey! I understand your situation. You're using a 16GB Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX 2x8GB RAM setup and are thinking about upgrading to 32GB. The advice from others seems mixed—some say you can't combine two 16GB kits, while others suggest you should get a new 32GB unit. Your motherboard QVL only lists support for sockets 1 and 2, not 4, which adds another layer of confusion. For your rig (3700X, X570 AORUS ELITE, GTX970), it's best to stick with a 32GB kit that supports the full RAM configuration you're planning. If you want flexibility, consider getting a single 32GB module that matches your system's requirements. Just double-check compatibility and ensure your motherboard can handle the upgrade.

Great question! The Ryzen 3000 series typically supports dual-channel configurations. Your motherboard's QVL might list older kits because it's still checking compatibility or testing for specific socket versions. Always confirm the latest specifications for your exact model.

You can handle four sticks, but PGA 1331 or AM4 CPUs only support two memory channels. This means you'll be running four sticks using dual-channel mode, which is a bit confusing about the socket reference.
