You have two routers: a TP-Link Archer C2300 connected to your modem as the primary gateway, and a Netgear R6100 set up as a guest network for visitors. The Netgear is isolated from your main network for security. If the Archer is linked via Ethernet to the TP-Link, it can still reach the main network. For updating the Netgear with a newer firmware, consider checking the latest support releases—since the last update was in 2017, you may want to look for the most recent version compatible with your model. Using a guest network is generally safer and simpler for long-term use, as it keeps your main network protected while allowing temporary access.

It might be simpler to configure guest Wi-Fi directly on the primary router instead of setting it up separately for each device.

It's mainly the concern about handling private information. That's why I wanted to confirm if using a guest network would remain secure during extended periods (daily for a month or more, maybe while streaming nonstop).

A guest Wi-Fi works usually, but for sensitive data it’s better to use a VPN or another ISP connection.

I’m setting up a VPN myself, but I might be assisting a neighbor for a month. I need to keep their main network secure while they’re online.
