Two queries about the Asus Prime B550M A AC
I've experienced no issues with this motherboard, except for a recent unexpected cold snap that left me confused. .. it features an amber light at the bottom that gradually appears and disappears, not flashing but shifting in and out. I haven’t located any details about its meaning, as it seems more functional than decorative. My main concern is that CPU temperatures remain low, yet package temps can spike to 170–180°F during heavy use. This is unusual for a Ryzen 5 5600G that hasn’t been overclocked. I’m using a test bench with dedicated airflow across the package and VRM heatsink, but it doesn’t seem to lower the package temperatures.
What are the detailed specifications? That's impressive! Just note the temperature range—up to 90°C is fine. For voltage, I'm looking for values under 1.2V (105-115°C) or 1.3V (100°C max), up to 1.45V (90°C) and above. These numbers differ by architecture. For precise limits, test voltage stability. Overclocking is an option if you're comfortable with it.
It's a fully stock build with no overclocking yet. The temperatures are stable—around 34°C idle and 54°C under load. The 76°C reading you see on the package likely refers to the actual temperature of the cooler or case, not the CPU itself. That’s the part that contacts the heatsink, so it reflects the cooling performance rather than the processor's internal heat.
The package consists solely of the outer shell surrounding the CPU die board. A 54 on the die works well, particularly for standard stock versions.
