Hi, I'm curious about how two 65W CPUs with the same architecture might differ in real-world power use at normal speeds. For example, the i3-9100F and i5-9400F are both 65W but could have varying actual draw. Similarly, the i5-4590 and i7-4790 both reach 84W despite different core counts. Power consumption can indeed be higher in practice due to factors like efficiency, cooling needs, and workload. The i9-10900F example shows a much higher draw at 225W.

65 watts refers to thermal output, not electrical power. Adding six cores in the same design increases consumption noticeably. The difference in power usage is substantial, yet both remain very low—far below 100 watts—so you won’t face major strain on your power budget from any supply.
