I'm checking if anyone has tried this before. I just changed my internet settings to 50 down 25 up and was curious about the ping. I usually play Dota 2, CS:GO, while my brother plays TF2 and World of Tanks. Any advice would be great!

It should work just fine. I’m often on a Skype call and playing online games, and my brother is gaming too while we’re both in calls. Sometimes someone watches low-quality videos like 360p or 480p while another plays a fast-paced FB game in my house. My internet speed is only 3Mb/s down and 1Mb/s up, which is pretty low.

I tested five players using League of Legends on a fast connection. The biggest improvement will come switching to a wired setup, like Ethernet or Powerline Ethernet—especially if a direct Ethernet cable isn't possible.

Haha, sorry not clear enough. I meant playing games online between two computers.

It seems like the issue isn't with just one router, since your setup can handle many devices at once.

He hadn't realized that a 200k download speed on Steam would cause such difficulties

The issue likely stems from someone else on the same network downloading or streaming content. Games won't consume excessive bandwidth to cause problems. I used BF2x2, BF2+CS1.6 and BF2+CoD4 back when I lived at home, and both me and my brother played co-op games. Ping remained stable. Routers can manage it. You can even support full LAN setups if your connection is strong. It's roughly 1Mbps per PC, and ping should stay within acceptable limits.

I'll keep that in mind, I'll make sure to disable downloads since the issue was often caused by them.
