Hi, you're looking to split your PC between two users while using Windows 8. I understand your goal is to let your dad and sister access the system separately without needing a full setup like SoftXpand. You mentioned Aster and BeTwin as alternatives but are unsure about their performance on Windows 8. TL;DR – can you run two users at once on Windows 8? Then the real question is: have others used Aster, BeTwin, or SoftXpand with Windows 8?

I already own this machine, so better make use of it. And if it supports running multiple systems, I’ll save on costs by building a new one instead.

Seems like Aster works. Not exactly sure how good it is tho. It also has a 30 day free trial without limitations, so I guess you could give that a try.

I’m not sure about that setup. Using motherboard audio for one PC and a USB sound card for another might not work reliably. You could try assigning a specific USB port to the second PC, but make sure the sound card is properly connected and configured.
