Hi there, I've been using this PC for about a year now. It has the Ryzen 5 1600x with a 4 Series DDR4 8GB RAM (two 4GB sticks) at 3200MHz, plus a dual module kit with two 16GB modules. It runs on a 1TB HDD with the MSI B350 PC Mate 25600 and a 500W Corsair PSU. I've had no problems with the RAM slots 2 and 4, but when I tried to boot, it wouldn't start. After replacing the RAM and trying different configurations, Windows still won't load. Could anyone help me out? Thanks a lot!
I checked the signs clearly. Was it really the RAM that caused the issue, or did you just jump into suspicion? The system won’t power on, but will it attempt to start? Do you notice the MSI BIOS screen, or can you access the UEFI settings? Have you tested connecting the RAM in slots 1 and 3? Also, can you determine if the issue lies with the hard drive or the GTX 1080 graphics card?
Identified the problem as a RAM issue caused by noise from the motherboard after installing slots 2 and 4 without issues. When I tried RAM in slots 1 and 3 it failed, suggesting the RAM may have been damaged. The machine is well maintained and not misused.
It might relate to a motherboard or CPU issue. Strange that slots 1 and 3 aren't working, yet 2 and 4 are... One possibility is the problem lies with the CPU or motherboard. The motherboard suspicion comes from the fact that slots 1 and/or 3 seem damaged, possibly worsening and now impacting slots 2 and 4. The CPU side involves the Integrated Memory Controller inside the CPU; it could be faulty or malfunctioning. You could test your RAM in another system that supports DDR4, and try using just one RAM stick at a time—see if the issue persists.
