TV displays image only after connecting the HDMI cable at the end.
Hey everyone, I really need your help with this! Here’s what happened:
Last year I set up an HTPC (Windows 10, Ryzen 3700x, Arc A750, 32GB RAM, 600w PSU) mainly for gaming on my TV (Hisense 75U6NQ). I decided to switch to SteamOS instead of Windows. So I bought a used 6700 XT, replaced the old GPU with the 6700 XT (using a DDU to clean the drivers), and tried it with the TV – nothing displayed. I thought maybe it was an HDMI issue and that the GPU’s HDMI port only worked after installing all the drivers. Then I connected the HTPC to my PC monitor via DisplayPort, and it worked fine. I kept going with SteamOS too, which also worked without problems (using my regular PC monitor). But when I reconnected the HTPC to my TV, there was still no display. I tried different HDMI cables, but nothing changed. It seems like the issue is only between this PC and this TV – other devices like my laptop or Chromecast still work perfectly with the same ports and cables.
When I first boot the HTPC and plugged in the HDMI cable after about 20 seconds, the TV displayed properly. What’s going on here?
It seems DDU might not have fully removed the previous drivers and settings. The television could be reacting to incoming signals based on how it was started, with the 20 seconds being the time needed for everything to stabilize and communicate again. What is your TV model? Do you have its user manual? Manually install the GPU and TV drivers (if any), then reinstall and adjust them yourself—avoid third-party tools.
I'll attempt that after returning from work, thank you for your assistance!
