No way to disable afaik. -Edit Turns out you can disable. Right click taskbar and click properties. Click the start menu tap and deselect the "Store and display recently opened items in the start menu and the taskbar" then click apply.

Unclear why so many people are having trouble with him. Are you referring to this list? You pressed the left mouse button on an item in the taskbar and then dragged the cursor upward to reveal it. This method is known as the jump list. It seems you can’t turn it off.

Instead of using the right-click, you can use a left-click and hold while dragging upward. To prevent the left-click and hold feature, simply turn it off in your settings or preferences.
