Turn off the pagefile yet Windows continues to utilize it.
today i installed two 4gig ram sticks onto my 8 gig ram stick, it worked (works with other brands) totaling 16 gigs. I began playing gta 5 to check if the pagefile could reach 13000mb while using about 5 gigs. After turning off the pagefile, I loaded into gta 5 again using msi afterburner+rivatuner, and the same result occurred. Is this the expected behavior?
Are you certain you’ve powered it off properly? Did you restart afterward to ensure it works? I also caution against turning it off completely—consider limiting it to a few gigabytes or so. Disabling it fully will restrict your RAM usage and may lead to memory issues, even if the usage percentage seems low.
The issue is unclear. The page file should be active. It contains processes running in the background while playing GTA5 and doing nothing. Page file contents can't be run by the CPU; it only interacts with RAM directly (cache). It must always remain enabled, except in rare cases like debugging or development testing. I’m mainly confused about why the swapfile works for UWP apps to suspend them, even though it doesn’t do anything useful while idle.
