I put windows 10 on my laptop. It has a gt740m card in it. When I overcaleded it, some games started running at low fps. Now I want to turn the overclock off and reset my pc without removing msi afterburner. My pc is working with the new settings even though I did not uninstall the software. What should I do? I need help!

Click the reset button in the MSI Afterburner, make sure you choose what you want to do, then hit save.

I've tried before but still nothing. My laptop gets hot at 90 degrees Celsius even after I changed the cooling fans and cleaned it out. Now I'm going to reinstall the operating system. Let's see if that helps things work better!

Have you done anything else to adjust those control panels, such as the ones for radeon or nvidia?

I don't know much about Nvidia back then, but was this GPU and its driver from the time overclocking was done by changing settings? CoolBits is what I remember. Afterburner used to help with it, but maybe it didn't stop the registry hacks or can't if the setting isn't there anymore. If that's true, turning off that hack in the registry might be needed.

Can I help you out with this? Hey, my graphics card is a little old, from way back in 2014.

You can open the REGEDIT file by just writing its name down in the Cortana search bar and then looking up a thing named "COOLBITS."

That old trick for making your graphics card run faster used to work, but it's only useful if you have a really old one. The next step is to reinstall the official Nvidia drivers and make sure all junk software is gone by using Display Driver Uninstaller. You can find this tool at www.wagnardsoft.com where Wagnardsoft sells computer PC programs like this one called DDU for cleaning up your system.
