Hello, I just reinstalled Windows 10 to ensure it works with the new motherboard CPU and RAM. I recall there was a tool that allowed me to turn off unnecessary background services after changing the installation settings. I didn’t have access to it back then, but it worked automatically. What was that tool? And what’s the best alternative now? I’d probably choose a trusted open-source option for safety.

The utilities don't perform any tricks. They only let you configure settings in the Settings panel, and some turn off Windows services. To truly "disable" Windows 10 spyware, avoid using Microsoft services. That means not using Cortana, Edge, OneDrive, or apps that rely on the Bing ad platform. Similar to steering clear of Google spyware, steer clear of anything linked to Google. The remaining features in Windows mainly collect telemetry data. You can also disable certain items in the Windows Defender panel.

Shutup10 offers you the ability to manage its modifications. I believe most changes it makes can be adjusted manually across different options. I’m a bit more worried about the tools available on Github since (compared to shutup10) you don’t always understand what they do or if they’re current for the latest Windows releases.
