Trying to overclock and seeing a red RAM light shows up
I bought a ryzen 7 3700x and tried to make it run faster than normal while watching some videos online. I left the computer sitting there, then came back after turning the computer off and on again. When I turned the thing on for the first time, the light on the board said red. I tried resetting the CMOS memory and other settings. Then I took out my old ryzen 5 2600x and put it in its place on the motherboard. That worked fine when I installed the new part. So is my ryzen 7 dead? The computer has: a b450f gaming board, a ryzen 5 2600x (which was being used with the ryzen 7 3700x), a sapphire pulse 5700 gpu with 16 gigs of memory, and a corsair ram psu.
You need to clear your BIOS because it used up so much CPU power that it fried itself before even the post happened. Reseat the 3700 motherboard and take out the BIOS battery. Hold the power button on your case for about 30 seconds, two times without plugging in any power source. Your computer should then work fine.
Oh, that could be the issue because Ryzen Master is still holding onto your OC profile on the chip itself. If you want to fix this, uninstall the Ryzen Master software before replacing the 3700 processor. When you try to remove it, it will ask if you are sure and should say yes. Then restart your computer from scratch. Or, before removing anything, check if you can delete that profile manually.
Hey, I didn't find an "uninstall" button. I tried removing it myself but didn't see anything to wipe the system. At last, I did a full uninstall, which took out every single thing linked to the computer. Now the CPU won't start at all.
That's strange. If I try to add my OC to RAM without first fixing the system, it'll crash with a BSOD and restart to normal settings. Did you check what time you set or how much power voltage is before making this change?
Unplug your PC completely so the power supply stops working. Then, hold down the Power Button for at least 30 seconds to make sure all electricity leaves the board. You can see the ROG lights flash briefly after 20 to 30 seconds to show that the power is gone. Use a flat head screwdriver to touch both pins of the CLR CMOS jumper while unplugged and hold it there for about 15 seconds. The location of this jumper is on page 1-2 here: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/E1440...UM_WEB.pdf Plug the PC back in. Press the Power Button to start it up. Keep tapping the DEL key until you see a message on screen telling you to press F1, then do that. Go into the Optimized Default settings and hit OK (this is found on the EXIT tab). Save your changes and exit the BIOS. Then tap the DEL key again to come back in, change any other settings you want, save, and exit once more.
