Trying to hit 5.2ghz on fx9590
Hello everyone, I’m looking for some advice.
I have an FX-9590 with a Gigabyte Fxa990 UD5 3.0, 750watt, 80+ bronze, and two 8GB SSDs at 1866MHz.
I’m also using an Arctic Freezer 240, and my temperatures are currently around 56°C.
There’s an 80mm blower on the VRMs of my heatsink.
I’m running at 5GHz for six months now, and everything has been stable.
I’m checking https://valid.x86.fr/yg8fsn for suggestions.
Could you suggest ways to reach a more stable 5.2GHz? Should I adjust anything else besides Vcore and LLC?
Currently, I’m at a high LLC setting, which limits me to 1.500 to 1.512 max under full load.
Thanks in advance!
You seem to be expecting more from a processor that has already been heavily overclocked. I wouldn't waste my time, but if you're determined to try, you might succeed.
Yes, you're reaching the point where diminishing returns start to set in due to the sluggish cores. Raising the TDP from 125W to 220W only improves performance by about 10-15%. Clock speed increases don't automatically boost performance significantly. Moving from 5.0 to 5.2 might add around 40W of power use and a bit more than 2-4% efficiency. We're not discussing a genuine 5.0 CPU, but one that's already pushed to its limits.
It seems like you're asking if it's worthwhile to try something.
You're asking if it's worth trying, but it seems to be about seeing a small mushroom cloud emerge from the case.
