I examined the minidump using windbg but didn’t grasp any of it. I did observe the error code 0x124, which relates to a whea uncorrectable error and seems connected to the PCI bus. Could this have something to do with CPU temperature?

It's true that the system's age might cause several problems. The issue of reaching 100C should be addressed to see if it's affecting your overall performance. I was also surprised the system didn't shut down at that stage. Considering the PSU is likely similar in age to other parts, it could also be a factor. Power supplies tend to degrade over time.
