Try using internet recovery without an Ethernet connection since your Wi-Fi card isn't working or missing.
Hey everyone, I just got a MacBook Pro 2012 for around $50 on Gumtree. It works but it lacks a bottom cover and the wired accessories like the Ethernet and Bluetooth cables—they were taken by the previous owner. I’m trying to connect it to my network via Ethernet for basic browsing, but whenever I try recovery mode (since it doesn’t have an HDD) I get stuck and can’t see my network because there’s nothing plugged in. Anyone know how to reinstall macOS using recovery while keeping the Ethernet connection active? Maybe something like Cap'n Swap or similar? Thanks!
There seems to be an issue with the MacBook's Ethernet functionality in recovery mode. It’s unclear why it was priced so low—possibly due to water damage or another problem.
Hello, I successfully got it running after I found a MacOS installation from a friend. It functions properly once the OS is set up. Thanks for your assistance everyone!
