ive been trying for 5 hours to get linux on my windows ME computer can anyone help? i really dont know the exact specs apart from the cpu is 633mhz i believe and the ram is 64mb hard drive is 20gb need help to install linux on it

Since it is a Windows ME machine, the first upgrade I would give a shot to would be Vista. Might have better luck but don't forget, Mickeysoft does not support anything other than Win10 these days.

I'd prefer XP over Vista. Vista was an overly large and unnecessary update.
