I faced intense frustration with the technician at ASUS who released a full BIOS evaluation copy. It caused me significant stress for three days as I analyzed it thoroughly and disassembled equipment repeatedly. The BIOS was faulty, not functioning properly due to being an evaluation copy. I also have a photo of the corrupted BIOS file attached. Note that the 'EVALUATION COPY' feature only appeared when the ROG boot animation was disabled. If you managed to boot from a USB drive like Macrium or Windows install media, the screen would go black immediately, preventing any progress. Normally, you could boot over USB by scrolling down and pressing Enter, but this didn’t work as expected. In BIOS settings, you usually just look for a USB device and press Enter to proceed, yet the system would shut down before initializing. The only solution that worked was reverting the BIOS to version 2401, which took a lot of time and effort and is considered unethical since it’s meant solely for evaluation. This situation is documented in the video attached.
Don’t take it too seriously, I meant to say I’d really want to outsmart them. I’m only interested in getting that issue resolved. Let’s see how bad their support has been with this board. First off, the software they provided was terrible—it actually damaged a CPU. The monitoring and fan tools kept showing impossible negative temps and shutting down the CPU fan. When I swapped out the CPU, the new control software for fans and power management didn’t work properly; it crashed the machine. After that, I tried BIOS fan profiles, but the fan was still off and the heatsink was hot. Eventually, I got sick and stopped using the machine for over a year. I finally updated the BIOS to 2401 and used ASUS fan control, keeping a close eye on everything. Still, the problem persisted—the fan would cut out and fail to restart, resets worked but didn’t help. It turned out the CPU OPT fan wasn’t controllable at all, so they didn’t just patch it up; they made things worse. I even tried some third-party fan software, which surprisingly helped. It seemed someone had figured out how ASUS motherboards actually communicated with fans—something the official support had ignored. Now, with their latest release, people are still frustrated. Why do you hate ASUS?
I’ve identified the reason behind the displayed message. Disabling Fastboot and hiding the Boot logo resolves the issue. This also occurs with the 2401 BIOS and two earlier versions I tested. I’ll begin evaluating the remaining four in the morning. It seems ASUS may be distributing illegal BIOS boards. I’ve contacted the BSA without revealing the identity to discuss whether this involves software piracy by a major company.
