Hi there, I'm an avid Age of Empires player with over 250 hours logged. I've noticed some server problems in certain regions lately, which has been frustrating. I didn't enjoy Civilization much either, especially the waiting aspect. The economic mechanics in AoE are interesting, and building cities feels more rewarding than just raiding. Right now I'm playing Company of Heroes 2, but I'm seeking something more similar to AoE. I'm thinking about returning to Starcraft, though I'm not sure if it's still available. Any recommendations would be appreciated—no mention of LoL. Thanks!

Total War Warhammer is pretty good and the game just matured so all factions have been released. Lots of fun and the "waiting your turn" only takes a few seconds at the end of a move cycle

The RTS market hasn't been as strong as it used to be, so Total War: Warhammer dominates the scene. You might also find ashes of the singularity, though there are mixed reports. If you're looking for something nostalgic, games like The Lord of the Rings Battle of Middle-earth and Command & Conquer are worth checking out. LotR BFME is currently free to download as an ISO file online.
