Troubleshooting Windows 7 setup issues.
I recently acquired an old motherboard from a friend to use with my old processor. I formatted a hard drive for a clean Windows 7 installation. The issue is that after loading the files and entering the Windows startup screen, the system shuts down immediately. I tried another hard drive running Linux, which works perfectly, but installing any Windows OS still fails. I flashed the BIOS and even updated it to a newer version, yet the problem persists. Please help!
It’s tricky to understand what’s happening, but can you go far enough through the startup sequence to attempt safe mode? (You’ve probably already done that.) Also, does “turn off” refer to a restart or a power cut?
Are you asking if the motherboard, hard drive, or SATA controller needs drivers in Windows 7? You should verify that no hardware requires additional drivers during setup.
Thank you for your reply! It seems you're having trouble installing Windows on that drive, and turning it off causes it to shut down right away.
Thanks for the info! It's unclear what to search for, but your motherboard model is Biostar H61ML v6.1. The official site is https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/int...p?S_ID=533
You don’t seem to require any drivers unless you’re working with a RAID configuration. Are you installing Windows via USB, DVD, or another method?
