I understand you're facing some issues with your system. It seems like the Gigabyte 299x wu8 isn't behaving as expected after a recent change. Everything worked fine on Windows 7 Ultimate before, but now it's showing blue screens and errors. You mentioned having two identical drives and a third from backup, but problems still occur when using different setups. The new graphics BIOS offers more options, but you're worried about data loss. It sounds like there might be configuration settings or hardware mismatches causing the instability. Let me know if you'd like guidance on troubleshooting steps.

I have tried both Legacy and EUFI. Here is the kicker. Even a clean install made on the other computer when moved over blue screens. There has to be something it does not like...It also ran before with this board all of a sudden it does this and does this BSOD with the two originals as well as the fresh backup I made. I remember Win xp had the controller issue if you went in to delete it it fixed everything, 98 had enum or something like that registry key where it would find all of your hardware again. There is something in the setup that is doing this.

However, it worked on the 299x before I relocated it; at that point the disk wasn't connected, so it functioned properly. This seems to be the puzzle here.

I’ve reviewed my findings and here’s where I’m stuck. I switched to AHCI because the board lacks IDE or SATA options, which caused a 7B fault—similar to what happened with WinXp when moving it to another machine. I discovered several methods involving registry edits for PCIDE, MSASCHI, or lastorV settings. I located the MSASCHI entry but my system didn’t have the correct values. Could you clarify if there are alternative controllers that might be responsible?
