Troubleshooting Nvidia graphics card drivers alongside AMD GPUs.
Troubleshooting Nvidia graphics card drivers alongside AMD GPUs.
I own a BenQ Zowie XL2411P monitor, and it indicates that for playing 3D games, I’ll need NVIDIA graphics card drivers—however, my computer has an AMD GPU. Will I still be able to enjoy those 3D games using the AMD GPU?
The part about Nvidia drivers is titled:
Watching 3D Content on Your Monitor
Playing 3D Content
This refers specifically to stereoscopic 3D vision – viewing images with two separate perspectives. You can find more information here: https://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/hel...Vision.htm Note that you’ll need specific hardware to use this technology, so it likely won't be relevant for you.
“Where did that come from? It’s just advertising, anyway. Both the AMD and Nvidia graphics cards essentially perform in the same way.”
The Zowie Box manual states that you need to install the NVIDIA graphics driver before trying out any 3D games, and honestly, it really confused me.
Ugh, that was a mistake – just let it go. If you’re looking for proof that AMD can handle 3D gaming (though you probably don’t need to convince you, I noticed some people new to PCs might be wondering!), take a look at YouTube videos of game benchmarks and you'll see they’re definitely involved. Actually, every single video game uses 3D rendering.
So, it sounds like you’re asking about G-Sync, doesn’t it? That’s essentially NVIDIA’s technology designed to prevent screen tearing – similar to a hardware version of V-Sync. You can absolutely use an AMD card, but without G-Sync. You'll be able to play any game you choose. Please correct me if I’m misunderstanding!
