I received this motherboard from microcenter + 12700k. Audio distorts when playing videos, adjusting volume in Windows and abruptly stopping playback, plus random behavior during startup. It’s really frustrating. On my Z390 model, a USB DAC resolved the problem. Now the distortion comes from both the built-in and USB DAC. I’ve reinstalled audio via ASUS support, separately using Realtek, disabled and uninstalled drivers, cleaned driverstore, and reinstalled again. I adjusted BIOS settings, updated BIOS, but updating USB audio didn’t help since no updates were found. I’m considering a fresh Windows install while upgrading to version 11, this time for the second attempt this month. By the way, I just swapped this board with another identical one and it’s still having the same issue. Uncertain if two boards can share such problems, but I’m hoping a clean reinstall will help.

PC Specs (if needed): 12700k Asus Z690 TUF Gaming Plus D4 3600 4x8 GB Corsair B die Sabrent NVME Gen 3 3070

I also tried it, but nothing altered. I used both formats, checked the tool (though I’m unsure of its purpose), and even ran them step by step.

I own an Asus Z490 and it was acting up before. Turning off the package C part fixed everything right away. When I turned all package C settings back on, the audio noise stopped. Let me know if this helps with your issue.

Turned off all C states but the issue persists with crackling sounds during volume adjustments and at startup.

The update didn't resolve the problem either.

Have you discovered a fix for this problem? I own the same motherboard with a 12600k and it’s really frustrating!
