Troubleshooting a powerful computer setup – is there something I’m overlooking to get optimal performance?
I assembled my initial personalized computer after extensive investigation of components, striving to create the most capable machine within my budget. My primary activity is playing demanding games at a resolution of 1440p. While my system performs adequately, it doesn’t quite meet my expectations.
Here are the specifications:
* 165Hz MSI Monitor
* MSI B360-F Pro Motherboard
* Intel i7-8700 Processor
* Two 8GB RAM Modules
* Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super Graphics Card
* 500GB Solid State Drive
* 2TB Hard Disk Drive
* 550W Power Supply Unit
My cooling solution is sufficient. For instance, in *Modern Warfare* with all settings set to the minimum at 1440p, frame rates rarely exceed 120. I’m unsure of the limiting factor within my setup. I'm targeting a consistent 165 frames per second at 1440p resolution. Could someone advise me on what component might be deficient?

Are your memory modules operating at their intended pace? What’s the clock speed of your RAM? And if it supports XMP, have you activated it in your computer's BIOS settings? Your power supply unit (PSU) is often a weak point in a system – why do you have a 550W model with a 2070S graphics card? I strongly advise upgrading to a reliable 650 watts or higher; this might be the root cause, but frequently, when PSUs aren’t supplying sufficient power to components, games or even the entire system will simply fail. It's difficult to determine for certain. However, I still suggest replacing it promptly.
