You can safely remove the two pins using a screwdriver or similar tool. If that fails, open the case and check for any shorts inside.

Used the pins, but the motherboard is positioned far from the case yet I managed to remove it.

Use one stick of RAM if you have an integrated GPU. Connect the monitor cable directly into the motherboard and remove the discrete GPU. You might also use an AIO; possibly the pressure issue is the cause. Consider using an M.2 slot. Perform a BIOS reset, keep the CPU inside, add RAM one piece at a time, and attempt to boot. Leaving the CPU without a cooler for a short period shouldn't harm it. If it powers on and boots, turn it off, place it in the case, then install the AIO first and try to start it again. Add components gradually and test each time.

The PC remains inactive despite having a single stick of RAM installed.

It seems there might be an issue with the motherboard. Also, do you have a multimeter available? You should verify the BIOS battery voltage, as some Asus boards won’t turn on if it’s too low.

Maybe your new MB is a BIOS update.

New MBs occasionally face issues. However, once the device powers on, you should be able to perform a BIOS update. If that's feasible, go ahead and try it. Regarding the multimeter and bios battery, do you own a multimeter for voltage checks or a replacement battery from another PC for testing?

Maybe I’ll look for a different battery.
