With one bank from each channel active, triple channel is possible. For instance, you can run TC with four dimms. On my R3F I’d fill the red slots first, then use the black ones closest to the CPU if needed. That’s a good approach for screens—could you share some examples so we can understand your setup better?
Don't shy away from higher voltage levels. The X58 CPU can handle quite a bit of power. I've used an I7 920 with a 4.4 GHz OC for eight years and an I7 980X at 4.4 GHz with 1.43 volts, achieving benchmark speeds up to 1.55 volts and still performing well after four years. That means 1.4 volts isn't a big issue. In fact, Intel claimed the I7 920 is safe up to 1.4 volts. Going beyond that goes beyond specifications. What might harm a X58 CPU is excessive voltage reaching memory, causing shutdowns if it exceeds 1.65 volts. Otherwise, it could damage the CPU's memory controller, especially in the 45 nm process like the I7 920. You can check benchmark results and clock speeds from my old X58 here. Also, just to be clear, I don't rely on my CPU for stability.
It's reasonable given your situation. With six chips available, you can distribute some if you manage shipping costs around 1.45. Memory issues during OC are common, but a 800MHz clock will push BCLK over by about 30-40%, bringing it to roughly 1040-1120 MHz. That means setting it at 800 lets you fine-tune the CPU without exceeding memory limits. Once you hit that target, you can adjust calculations to ensure memory operates smoothly at 1066 MHz.
