Hi, your TP-Link TL WR840N router seems to experience frequent issues with lag, unresponsiveness, and high packet loss. Devices show spikes in latency and dropped connections even when no internet is active. It’s unclear why these problems occur despite checking for overheating, connected devices, and bandwidth usage. You might want to test the connection with another device or check for firmware updates. If the problem persists, consider resetting the router or consulting the manufacturer’s support. Thanks!

It's a basic router that's starting to show its age. If it's been a while, the capacitors in the router or the power supply might be failing.

Have you attempted a restart? Which version of the WR840N are you using? For longer durability, third-party firmware could help, though it’s quite old and you may achieve superior performance with a complete replacement.

I also restarted it several times, but it still keeps doing what it's good at.

I faced the same problem with my old router, so I tried this and it worked for me. However, over the past two months it has started to do it again.

Remove the attached picture since it includes your MAC and public IP address. This device version isn't compatible with DD-WRT or OpenWRT. Consider resetting to defaults, installing the newest official firmware, then resetting again. After that, set it up according to your preferences.
