You just built a new system and installed Windows 8, but it shows an error: installation failed because the selected drive doesn’t meet requirements. It mentions a MBR structure and says Windows only works on GPT drives. Your specs include a Sempron 2650 with 2x2GB RAM, a 250GB Samsung HDD, and a 9600GT hard drive. The Windows key you’re using has worked before, so it shouldn’t cause issues. Thanks for the help!

You must delete the partition table from the storage device.

If there are no important files on that drive, you can update it via a command prompt.

You need to remove those partitions so they can be properly formatted for Windows installation. Even if that doesn’t happen, attempting to format the drive usually resolves the issue.

It seems the MBR partition table should use a GUID partition table.

Use GParted with a live CD or USB to wipe the partitions on the device.

I'm sorry if this seems simple. Could you clarify what you mean by "remove the partitions"?

Start by downloading GParted and installing the image onto a USB stick with UNetBootIn. Then power on the machine from the USB, allowing you to adjust partitions from that device.
