I'm not sure if this topic fits this forum, since it doesn't appear very technical. But it's probably the only place where someone might get a useful answer. I'm using Windows 10, and many programs don't open in full screen properly. The main culprits seem to be Skype and YouTube's player. None of my IDEs, games, or Windows Explorer have experienced this issue before.

If I could recreate it now, I'd just show you, but since neither app works together, I'll explain: When I press the maximize or full-screen button, the window tries to go all the way, but ends up with bars at the top and left, about five millimeters wide. I can see through those bars and click on what's behind them to activate whatever is there. This is especially frustrating when I try to move a window from one screen to another and end up clicking the wrong thing.

Instead of closing the current window, I usually close it in the background and then reopen it later. I can adjust the window size a few times or restart it to fix the problem. It doesn't happen every time, but when it does, it can interrupt my work or cause delays because I accidentally close something important.

I'm wondering: is this a Windows issue, specifically with Windows 10? Could Skype be poorly coded, or is it related to my NVIDIA card? Is there a way to fix it? I've searched online, but the only similar problems are with games not opening in full screen, which isn't what I'm facing.

It seems chances are linked to using several monitors. I have software named DisplayFusion that costs around £12 on Steam, making it simpler to run multiple displays on Windows. It isn't completely free, but it might be worth considering. If not, I don’t have any other ideas.

It also happens when I only have one display. I use a laptop, which I do move around. PS, I got it to happen, and this is what Skype looks like with Chrome in the background. Note Chrome's three tabs and three buttons visible above the Skype window.

It seems the problem might be related to Skype, possibly needing a reinstall. The YouTube player issue appears to occur during connection or disconnection of displays—restarting afterward might resolve it.

It doesn't appear to be linked to the second screen. My machine has been running nonstop all day, and this is occurring now. Typically I shut it down, unplug it, and restart it later at work. This happens similarly, even after hours since a clean install about six months ago.

Run the command as an administrator and execute a full network scan with a detailed report.

I'd mention I have no ideas. Such issues are pretty typical on Windows 10. But good luck in locating a solution for your concern!
