Hi, I purchased a used CPU (i7-4790K) about two months ago. I updated the BIOS using MSI M-Flash and attempted to install Windows 10 via USB and the Windows Media Creation Tool. However, the OS didn’t progress past the login screen. I tested three different USB drives to rule out hardware issues, but that didn’t help either. When I replaced my old CPU (i5-4670K) in the same machine, everything functioned correctly and Windows 10 installed smoothly. Interestingly, installing Windows 7 alongside the i7 worked perfectly. Later, a local PC store suggested my motherboard might be faulty. They sent me a new one, but when I tried to install Windows 10 again, it still froze at the blue logo screen. I’ve tried various BIOS versions, flash drives, memory sticks, a new board, and diagnostic tools—only the i7-4790K performed well. Thanks for your help, PotatoChip!

Ensure you're not connecting a USB3 port. Some USB3.0 chipsets work poorly with standard drivers and may lead to problems.

I checked all USB ports on the motherboard (3.0 and 2.0) and it shouldn’t be the problem. I also attempted to install it using only essential peripherals, but that didn’t succeed either.

I meant clarifying what you're referring to with "bad image."

I installed a Celeron 1820 in my computer and managed to complete the Windows 10 installation. I believe the i7-4790K might be faulty, but I can't try it on another machine.
