Trouble with your hard drive getting slow and weird
Hi everyone, I've had a problem with my PC for the last few days. To be short, I basically bought a new power supply and GPU, but because of that, I couldn't use it until two days ago when the parts arrived. The thing is, after testing them out, something weird happened: loading times are way off from what they should be. Things like Rocket League bot practice or the initial FIFA loading screen take forever instead of seconds. Also, my hard drive usage jumps to 100% with "SYSTEM" using all its RAM at once, which didn't happen before and even though I used a mechanical hard drive, loading times were okay then too. So why is this happening and how can I fix it? Thanks to everyone for their help! MY RIG: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Motherboard: Asus PRIME A520M-K GPU: Zotac RTX 2060 RAM: Crucial 16 GB (Don't know the specific model) Power Supply: XPG PYLON 750W HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Did you switch to a new GPU model? Why ask? When changing GPUs, it's best to clean up the old drivers first using DDU in safe mode. That helps because driver files hold the GPU ID, and leftover IDs from old versions can cause issues.
Don't try that approach, especially when you have a brand-new graphics card. You should always take out all the old drivers completely using DDU while your computer is in Safe Mode.
