Trouble with Windows setup?
Hello, I just set up a Windows 7 on a new SSD for another PC. I began the installation from Windows using my HDD, but now when I disconnect the HDD and connect only the SSD where I installed Windows, it says there’s no OS. Can you help me resolve this? Also, I started the installation in Windows because my USB setup isn’t working.
The issue arises because you didn't disconnect your old HDD during installation, which likely means the bootloader remains on it instead of your SSD. It's best to perform a clean install of Windows 10 on your new SSD and ensure you unplug the old HDD beforehand.
Of course, sir. Please let me know what you need assistance with.
Begin by removing the HDD immediately. Keep only the SSD connected to your PC. Install W10 after the OS is set up. Power down the PC, connect the HDD (while still keeping the SSD plugged in), restart it, enter BIOS settings, and shut off the SSD. Finally, remove the OS from the HDD through Windows.
I’m having trouble installing from USB; it only works with Windows on an HDD. I believe moving the bootloader to an SSD will fix it, but I’m not sure how to do that.
