It's common for new components like motherboards to feel warm during use. The heat can be normal as they become active, but if it becomes excessively hot, it might indicate an issue.

Absolutely, I'd imagine it would look quite warm and inviting.

When running CPU or graphically demanding tasks, the machine tends to get hot. The rear side of the motherboard is likely the spot where your CPU connectors attach. This assumes the case has a passive heatsink and thermal tape on that side.

skin measurements don't reliably indicate if a computer part is overheating.

The motherboard includes VRM heat sinks, and I think the backplate has thermal pads as well.

You might want to try securing the SSD in a way that ensures proper contact with the M.2 slot, rather than just fitting it loosely. Check the manufacturer’s guidelines for your specific SSD and motherboard to confirm the correct installation method.

Over time, doing heavy CPU tasks can cause the tray to become warm. If it felt hot during idle periods, it might need checking. Monitor temperatures while playing or using system tools—keep them within normal ranges.
