OvAeons mentioned issues with upgrading when other devices are connected. Disconnect everything except what you need. Retry the upgrade. For a fresh installation, back up your data using another storage option like a USB drive, external HDD, cloud service, etc., and transfer important files to that device. Include documents, game saves (not from Steam or Origin), music, photos, videos, etc. After the fresh install, restore the files from the backup.
