You're stuck at 81% during the Windows 10 upgrade. Try restarting the installation or checking for any pending updates. If the issue persists, consider using a clean installation or seeking technical support.

Opt for a brand new Windows setup instead of an upgrade. I’d skip the upgrade and install Windows 10 from scratch, then link it to your current Windows 7 key.

Perform a fresh setup, avoid upgrading. Your Windows 7 license works with Windows 10.

I didn't realize this device came with Windows 7 already installed, so I don't have access to a key.

Use this platform to build a USB flash drive for booting the new installation. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software.../windows10 Remember that your computer might not function well with Windows 10 because some devices lack suitable drivers. Plan accordingly in case you encounter issues, and consider reverting to Windows 7 if needed.

A sticker should display the keyboard layout. If absent, a program exists to determine your key from within Windows.

Be careful, it could be a setup! The performance of your laptop depends on its age—Win10 might not be as smooth as Win7. You have alternatives like other operating systems or upgrading to a newer version. A different kind of system, such as *nix, could keep you on Win7, then upgrade to something like Win 8.1...
