I’ve chosen a fresh setup this time. Last year I had: AMD A4 - 4000, 8GB DDR3, MSI A55m, E33, with 240GB SSD and 750GB HDD, paired with a 750W LMS PSU and Areo Cool case. Now I’m moving to an AMD Athlon 3000g A320 motherboard with 8GB DDR4. Which CPU should I upgrade next year—Ryzen 1600 or the 3200G?
Not suitable for upgrading to a 6-core CPU. Expect throttling and lower performance. It depends on current market trends. The 3200G offers little improvement over the 1600's multi-core capabilities. When choosing a CPU, also think about your gaming habits and how well additional cores support your titles.
Next year we'll release the 4000 series. If you need 1600, you'll need a GPU. Hold off until the 4000 line comes out—then upgrade to a better motherboard than the A320 (preferably B350, B450 or B550). What will you be using this rig for? @Windows9 your signature indicates you're tagging me
The 3200g model uses four cores, correct? I plan to switch to a B450 tomahawk later. I might get an Athlon 4000, but could upgrade a bit sooner. Considering a second motherboard later feels like an unnecessary expense and additional work. I recommend investing in a solid motherboard right away. There are affordable options that match the performance of the tomahawk, except if you need specific features it offers. If you can locate a nearby store with an ASRock B450M Pro4 or cheaper MSI models such as Pro VDH or Gaming Plus, you'll be well-prepared for future upgrades.

The USB hub on my board isn’t working, so I can’t insert a USB drive. Mouse and keyboard function fine, but copying big files causes crashes. My motherboard lacks USB 3, and the A320 model is affected too.
