Hello everyone, I have a query about my recent upgrade. I moved from a 12th gen rig using a Z690 motherboard to a 13th gen model with a Z790 motherboard, both using ASUS chipsets. I’m wondering if I need to reinstall Windows 11, or if the benefits would be minimal in this case. I checked online but haven’t found any clear guidance yet. Thanks ahead!

Despite this, unless you're planning to use many PCI-E 5.0 cards—such as SSDs for video editing (sequential speeds)—it's probably not worth it. You can simply install the newer CPUs on older boards, making the upgrade unnecessary. I own a Z690-A and haven't upgraded it yet. Newer boards with DDR5 are priced almost like the upcoming RX 7700 XT.

I understand the change isn't significant from a chipset perspective, yet I had my own reasons for making it. Now I'm wondering if anyone can clarify and shed some light on this ^^

Windows automatically updates drivers and other settings prior to startup. A new installation remains the best way to avoid issues.
