It’s unclear how the system works regarding skipping years. You might need to reach 1903 first, then proceed to 2004. Your machine seems to require a restart before moving forward.

I'm trying to ensure this doesn't disrupt my PC, perhaps I'll set up a Macrium backup just in case.

Windows updates will handle everything automatically. Just press check for updates and they’ll guide you on the next steps.

Downloading the ISO lets you upgrade directly from any build to the newest release.

Using multiple versions with the ISO to refresh tends to be quicker. Although the automatic updates often function properly, they become quite slow if your computer is lagging in updates. This isn't a big issue right now, as you're likely finished already.

I didn’t put my PC into sleep mode. Still, I’ll remember this for later. Likely I’ll finish the 1903 update tonight; it might jump from 1903 to 2004 then, unless 1903 can skip straight to 2004 without needing 1909.
