Your Mac should support High Sierra, but upgrading from Mountain Lion through the App Store may not be possible. It’s best to back up your data first. Download High Sierra from the provided link: http://updates-http.cdn-apple.com/2019/c...tallOS.dmg. Create an install disk and install it on your Mac. After installation, add High Sierra to the App Store using the link from Apple Support: macappstores://apps.apple.com/app/macos-high-sierra/id1246284741?mt=12. Additional guidance is available in the Apple support documentation.

You double-clicked the .pkg file and it confirmed installation. Now you should proceed with using it. If needed, check the application folder for further setup.

Opencore Legacy Patcher functions excellently on a 2011 Macbook Pro. Essential components include an SSD, 16GB DDR3 RAM, and a 2012 Wi-Fi card supporting Bluetooth 4.0. For a 15" model with a faulty GPU, you can revive it by turning off the AMD chip.
