It works well, particularly with premium cards. The 5800X3D avoids limiting a high-end GPU on 1440p, whereas the standard Zen3 can sometimes do so.

I just switched my GPU to the 4070Ti and am enjoying 1440p gaming.

Nvidia GPUs tend to be more challenging to operate due to higher driver requirements. The 5800X3D offers an ideal balance. For a more affordable option, consider the 5700X. The 5900X may seem useful for gaming but isn't worth the cost.

It looks like a great offer for the CPU. In Germany, a 3900x typically sells for 170-200€ used, while the 5900x and 5800x3d are around 340€ each. If you can sell your 3900x and get a 5900x for 200€, it makes sense to go with the upgrade without hesitation. Pricing seems quite favorable compared to what you expect.

3900x 32GB RAM, 3200Mhz processor, 4070Ti chipset, 1Tb storage. Boot includes 2TB MX500 SSD for gaming. CPU performance issues are affecting frame rates.

The 5900x costs £175 and the 5800x3d is £230. That makes sense after selling my 3900x—paying £75 for the 5900x or £130 for the 5800x3d, which is why I considered upgrading from the start.

What you're aiming for is a smooth performance with high frame rates, especially in optimized games where the 3900x resolution doesn't cause issues.

I'm considering whether an issue might arise in two years.
