Windows 10 introduces a method to restrict Secure Boot for OEMs seeking Windows Logo Certification. This change aims to prevent non-Windows OS installations on Windows devices, particularly laptops. Microsoft does not endorse signing other operating systems and has no intention of doing so. Canonical has started signing its own software and is urging OEMs to add their keys to the Secure Boot database, though only HP and Dell currently do this. Debian and Arch Linux remain unsigned, while self-compiled kernels won't function. Continued inaction would make it nearly impossible to install non-Windows operating systems on PC hardware.
