Hey, your old Walmart PC from three years ago is still usable. You can transfer your Windows setup to the new build without paying for Windows 7 unless you need it. Just download the latest version from Microsoft, create a bootable USB, and install it on your new system. Make sure to back up important files first.

Retrieve your product key via a website like http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ or ProduKey. Save it somewhere safe. Obtain the ISO matching your Windows 7 version (home, premium, 32bit/64bit). You can find these on the official W7 forums page. Ensure you use the correct version to avoid issues. Create your media using tools such as PowerISO or Unetbootin. Disable the key before proceeding. Execute the installation command in an administrator prompt: slmgr.vbs /upk Install Windows 7 with the media you made. Product key is the one you recorded earlier. Task complete.

Will this affect your existing PC? If not, I'll proceed with the plan.

I didn<|pad|> to never mention you, so I didn’t revisit this discussion. That action will disable the Windows key on your device, so you’ll need a different one for it to work properly again. Your information is safe either way. Each key works only on one computer at a time.

I thought that would be what I expected, so I'll wait until my other computer is set up.

The original machine sounds similar to a prebuilt version. The keys might not function on another motherboard.

That's what a friend told me, but I wasn't sure it was really worth the extra $100 for my PC while sticking to the budget, tyvm
