Transferring Windows 7 from one PC to another
Transferring Windows 7 from one PC to another
Your existing PC is about to be upgraded, and I don’t have the Windows installation media or additional software. I can help you transfer all your files to a new hard drive and install them on the new computer, but you’ll need to do it manually. Let me know if you’d like step-by-step guidance!
It won't function properly—it will start but cause many issues. You need to get the proper Windows 7 .iso file, install it on the new computer, select the activation method, and contact Microsoft so they can deactivate your old system and set up the Windows key on the new one.
Open the Control Panel on Windows, navigate to System and Security, then select Backup and Recovery. Restore your system by checking all options, including drives, documents, and users. Install Windows 7 on the new machine using this data, and remember the old key for future use. Ensure the previous system stays active during the process.
Straight copy all files wouldn't work. First you'd need to copy also hidden and system files to get everything. After that it would be case of driver issues. I will assume that you will have new drive for new pc. You are better off doing it either the @ Karikiro way (first time I heard that option) or by just making fresh install and copying all your personal files to new install. Besides them you can copy most settings from AppData folder but there is no quarantee that they will work.
Download the iso. If you also lost your product key, there a software that scans for keys in your system called "Product Key Explorer", it's completely safe." I don't if this is possible but aren't there drive clone softwares? Do those work with drives that has OS? I'm quite curious but I can't test, I only have one system lol.
