Hey there. After installing a new computer, I kept some old HDDs for extra space just in case. I found a fresh M.2 and SATA SSD but the old HDDs aren’t showing up. I’ve rearranged the cables and even tried using the SATA SSD cables on the HDDs, but they still don’t detect them. The HDDs are both Seagate IronWolf models and were functioning properly a day before the upgrade. I’d rather not lose any data from those drives or replace them since they’re only a couple of years old.

They were configured using a pseudo-RAID setup such as Intel RST. All SATA connections are active and unaffected by the M.2 SSD installation.

no raid, i don’t believe they’d disable it since i tried one of the HDDS on port 1. the sata ssd’s were picked up. same with the third. i don’t think it wouldn’t be missed because of the m.2, as the sata ssd is already detected.

Who isn't noticing it? Revert the change and check for detection.

I can replace the HDDS in my previous system and check their functionality there.

This could be a solid plan — though I doubt a Seagate drive would suddenly give up like that.

Yeah, most things are similar. Old cables for old computers, new ones for new ones, and sometimes different ports even when swapping devices. New connections can vary based on what you're using. The SSDS cables from the old boot were still on the old computer, and there was a second set of cables used for the old SSD on the Od computer.

I also connected both drives using a USB to SATA adapter and utilized an extra 750GB laptop drive. The laptop started up and the 8 and 10TB units functioned properly.
