I need to understand how to transfer just your operating system from your HDD to the SSD you ordered. I’ve checked YouTube, but most guides cover moving everything onto an SSD, not just the OS.

I would perform a new setup from a USB drive. A fresh installation would likely be more reliable.

Start with a fresh setup. Create a backup or store files outside the Windows folder for easy access from other installations. Search for the Windows media creation tool, obtain it from the Microsoft site, and use it to generate a USB drive for installing Windows on other computers. When prompted, select the same Windows version you currently have and copy the key if available. Proceed with the installation and restore your programs.

You only need this if your BIOS understands the media boot sequence.
