You have a company laptop with Bitlocker active. You're looking to personalize it, remove external devices, and restore normal functionality. Swapping the SSD might work if you reinstall Windows, but formatting alone won't fully restore all settings. The BIOS likely has entries for USB ports—checking those could help you identify what's disabled.
In general, yes unless a bios password is enforced. It seems you might be able to access the bios.
It relies on their system configuration. If they're using InTune and AutoPilot without removing the serial from the setup, the laptop will remain linked. For example, at the OOBE during a fresh OS installation and when connected via WiFi, it will automatically redirect you to the company login page.
It could be simpler to request its removal from device management, as it is no longer owned by them.
I align with LogicalDrm on this matter. It's usually an IT team responsibility. Even if you manage it yourself, it absolves you of any responsibility—data was removed improperly. Based on past cases, some complete a full format and reinstall Windows (often restoring the original laptop image) or just wipe the drives, then ask for a replacement. The Windows license stays with the laptop in UEFI. Once installed, Windows recognizes it and activates automatically online (if not, check for updates, wait a few minutes, then restart). Make sure you install the identical Windows edition: if it came with Windows 10 Pro, use Windows 10 or 11 Pro; if with Windows 10 Home, use Windows 10 or 11 Home.
